You are very welcome to the Cathedral of Our Lady, or St. Mary, or as we call it here, The St. Marien-Dom!
The St. Marien-Dom is the Cathedral Church of the Archdiocese of Hamburg. 1100 years after the foundation of the diocese of Hamburg, since raised to the status of an archdiocese in 1995, the St. Marien-Dom is now the focal point of the Catholic Church in the North of Germany.
Renovation of the cathedral
Since the parish of Our Lady was raised up to cathedral status by Pope John Paul II, certain liturgical and creative requirements were necessary. These made construction alterations necessary.
Do take a walk about the new St. Marien-Dom during which you are sure to discover old and new alike.
Around the cathedral
The new St. Marien-Dom is situated in the lively district of St. Georg.
The activities of the members of the St. Marien-Dom community and of catholic communities from other countries, as well as the other diverse groups involved in the parish, contribute to the St. Marien-Dom being of great importance to many.
